Aerospace Christchurch

Aerospace New Zealand works with a number of regional organisations. Christchurch was the first region to have a formally established aerospace organisation.

In 2019 aerospace meetups were held under the “Christchurch Aerospace Centre” name, then transitioned into becoming "Aerospace Christchurch”. Ōtautahi Christchurch aspires to be a hub of an energetic New Zealand aerospace industry.

Christchurch has relatively low air traffic and easy access to both an international airport and seaport, as well as outstanding manufacturing capabilities. There’s an ease of doing business in the well-laid out and non-congested city, key stakeholders such as the city council have incorporated aerospace as a key focus industry and the University of Canterbury is a prodigious producer of engineering talent. This makes Christchurch an ideal environment for the development and testing of space and advanced aviation technologies.
